Sara Leigh Walsh drops onto the YA scene with a novel unlike any you've seen before. With an unexpected plotline and a strong set of unique characters, The Dark Light is quite an enjoyable read.

I never expected the plot to go the way it did. The discreet summary hinted at paranormal, but the plot was more fantasy and even sci-fi than that. The Dark Light drew me in from its very first pages, with the enticing cover, the magnificent, mysterious tattoo, and promises of mystery shrouding Mia Stone's life.

And while the plot drew me in and the characters charmed me, the writing of the novel seemed to downplay the effect of the novel in whole. At times, the dialogue seemed forced. Other times, Mia's thoughts were repetitive and didn't seem necessary. The writing just didn't make the cut I was expecting.
