really liked it
Read from July 23 to August 28, 2012

I read this as an advance "uncorrected proof" and while I didn't expect too much, I was pleasantly surprised. It has well drawn characters(the fictional Mariella Bennett & Gavin Murry ) excellent historical background ( the disastrous 1935 Key West hurricane) and a sympathetic yet realistic depiction of E.H. and his "crowd. Although there were places where I felt it could have moved more swiftly, in the end it all added up to an exceptionally moving piece is historical fiction. And, I might add, made me cry
