I disagree with Krugman on a number of fundamental points. As more of a market skeptic than he, I am less inclined to believe that simple, technical fixes are necessarily going to end depression economics when (as Krugman pointed out) finance capital has formed a solid cabal to protect their resources.
But aside from the fact that we have highly different perceptions of economy and society, a great deal of his analysis remains cogent. Like myself, Krugman would agree that austerity is rarely a productive cure for ailing economies. And while I'm uncomfortable with his position as the unofficial economic ideologue of the U.S. Democratic Party in its current, castrated incarnation, I find myself agreeing with him more often than not on a fair number of issues. We need all the ammo against neoliberalism we can get.
