I read this with one of my clients this summer. I liked the insight it gave into the world of Native American fisherman in Mexico in the early 20th century, but it was mostly a really depressing version of a John Steinbeck folktale. Very testosterone laden and description heavy.

Cat I love John Steinbeck, but this was definitely not one of my favorites. The characters didn't seem as well rounded out as his novels. My mom just read Travels with Charley and liked it, have you read that one?
