I have read this book as well as those in this biographic series multiple times. It touches me on a personal plane as another coming from an abusive home, though myself not the main target. Also as an adult I worked in Family Services offices. Seeing and hearing even more. I read because I want to help. If I know different things to look for maybe I'll be more aware of my surroundings. The Foster Care system is overworked and under paid as they say. If you really care you just want to give them a warm, dry, safe place to eat and sleep. When your lucky like David with Alice & Harold you still allow them to eenjoy some portion of childhood. Told through a child's eyes, as we know not what they see or hear. Everything. Thank you David Pelzer. God Bless you & Stephen.
