I read a review about this book in the NYT. The review made the book sound heartbreaking, lonely and complicated. I immediately added it to my list.
Unfortunately, I liked the review better than the book.
There were positive aspects of this story. The lead character (a fallen, gay priest) was complex and well developed. I would imagine that most readers would feel for him the way I did--a combination of love and hate, pity and anger. But, in general, the dialogue was choppy, storyline too easy and the writing too dry.
I just didn't like it. But it wasn't so bad I stopped reading.
