This book combines a coming of age, English boarding school story with Greek mythology, and it works very well. The author gives each character a distinctive voice and uses mythology and magic in a way that is both mysterious and approachable. The main characters are all believable as children (or teens or young adults -- its purposely unclear how old they are) and yet, as something supernatural. Highly recommended for any fantasy fan.
