This is shaping up to be a great series. I'm impressed with the setting and the sort of "next tick of the clock" time frame for humanity. The villains are believable. The characters are well rounded, multidimensional, and their motivations make sense. It is extremely well written--like its predecessor.

More please!

One other thought occurred to me after a day or so of reflection -- this is what I kind of remembered the original Foundation series (the older books) to be like. Interestingly, when I went back and read them (and read Asimov's own commentaries), there was surprisingly LESS action than I'd remembered. This series maybe kind of has that same effect. I'm thinking of all the action, but really, the story unfolds and works so well because the characters are developed well and carefully. It's not just a Western set in space.

I hope when (not if) they make the movie of this, they keep that story-telling excellence intact. It'd make a great space thriller, but it's so much more too.
