The Wishing Spell (The Land of Stories, #1)

On the whole it was a pretty amazing book, I felt connected to the characters, there were twists that shocked me and the ending nearly made me cry with how sweet it was. He has been very clever with how he has changed particular parts of classic fairy tales eg. Golidlocks on the run from the law for thievery and breaking and entering.
There were a few predictable moments in there and, at times, it was a little repetitive and vague. Things like "It was the happiest they had been in their lives" and "It was the most relaxed they had been in their lives" cropped up far too often for my liking but on the whole he wrote a very good book for the 9-12 demographic which he hits perfectly. It could potentially transcend that age group but the slightly lazy writing at points hinders that.
However, I think that, whether he was on Glee or not, this is a book that can hold its own in the children's book market. Impressive stuff. Hoping for a sequel.
