My son had to read this for school. I figured I should read it also. I was interested also. Would the writing be childish? Would the story be realistic? So I read it.
It was truly stupid but I am glad I read it. Both my son and I had some good laughs over it's tone and content. Then we talked about how sad it was that the education system would foist this pap on a teenager when life was as difficult and confusing as it can be. Most teenagers with some experience in life and a parent willing to talk to them will get that this story is bogus. At best it will entertain them with it's stupidity. At worst it will annoy them with it's condescending absurdities.
It does help get a good conversation started on what a teen thinks is real or bogus.
