Great middle-grade adventure story. I really liked the dynamic between Sera the science nerd and Dak the history nerd, and I loved that they embrace their nerdiness. Although the narration is all third person, the point of view switches between Sera, Dak, and occasionally other characters. Some parts felt a bit rushed, but overall I had a good time reading it. Plenty of adventure, some fine science and history, and humor. Should appeal to boys and girls alike, including reluctant readers. I don't know anything about the online tie-ins except that they exist. Recommend.

(Note: I received a free advance reading copy of this book from the publisher at an American Library Association Annual Conference. I was not required to write a positive review. Thank you, Scholastic!)
