From another new friend's page, I remembered one of my favorite books of my childhood. I lived and slept with this book. Heidi's reunion with a grandfather, who is cold and crusty from living alone, is still reunion with family. Her delight in the physical world around her softens him and brings him back to feeling emotions again. Every time I hear wind blowing through tall pine trees, I remember the hut on the hill.
