It's a great companion book to Downton Abbey. There are sections on the family, society, style, war, etc., just about everything that relates to the show. I was particularly impressed because I generally dislike history, but I loved reading about the times and how they are reflected on the show and relate to the characters. There's also background details on the characters that we have not learned about just from the show and plenty of pictures from the set as well as historical pictures and graphics. The reason for 4 stars is because I felt that there was a lot of repetition. I pretty much read the book in order, with only a couple of glances ahead, but there were 5 to 10 times that I read a little anecdote and could swear that I had already read it in the book.
