Risa Jones is all grown up. We last saw her in the Riley Jenson series by Keri Arthur. It is wonderful to see her finally get her own series. Risa is half-werewolf and half-Aedh. Her powers inherited from her parents allow her to shift her facial features, walk the spirit plane and see the future. In Darkness Unbound, she gets involved with a deadly group of people who are stealing souls. These aren’t the reapers who help souls on their path, but a creature that rips the soul from the body of a living person, leaving them little more than dead.
Risa is a smart woman who has so many talents. But when people attack the people closest to her, she is willing to fight to protect those that she loves. She isn’t afraid to use the powers she has to threaten and kill, but only when she must. She isn’t a killer at heart. She’s had her heart broken in the past and while we don’t know the details of that, she is reluctant to let in another guy, even though there are plenty who would like to be with her. She meets two hotties in Darkness Unbound and both have the potential to be a lifetime love, but only if they really are what they seem.
Darkness Unbound is a wonderful tale of mystery and mayhem wrapped around a sizzling hot woman who is looking for love. Risa is a highly sexual wolf and while she’s not been an angel, she has been denying her needs too long. When she gets a chance to let her desires out, the scenes are combustible. Keri Arthur sets up the series with Darkness Unbound and leaves readers wanting more. If you have read the Riley Jenson series, Darkness Unbound is a must for fans. However, it isn’t necessary for you to have read Keri Arthur’s other books to enjoy Darkness Unbound. It is a hot tale all in itself.
