it was amazing
bookshelves: horror-disguised-as-literature, literature-fantastique

Don't compare to lord of the rings..compare to Kafka, Poe, Lewis Carroll,or maybe Edward Gorey..a mostly drop dead funny book(or books) that retains a sense of unbearable grimness.

Richard I bought this mainly because the blurb on the back cover said it was comparable to LOTR. The only resemblance I can see that each book has three volumes, although Tolkien experts will tell you that this was more the publisher's idea than Tolkien's. (view spoiler). But you sum up the aesthetic effect of the book nicely!
