it was amazing

I don’t usually write reviews and stick to just rating books but after reading Sundial and The Light Bringer’s Way I had to let others know they should take a chance on this complex and unexpected YA storyline. These books are set in the 80s and allude to the fact that the characters may be preventing a nuclear war through their actions of capturing pure energy and altering history for the better. In the books, the characters are given knowledge and power and then must constantly apply it--usually when the stakes are very high. The knowledge comes in a variety of different forms. The first book focuses on martial arts, survival training and mentors and the second incorporates learning from myths, stories and various forms of audio intelligence. It was refreshing the books did not recycle the same formula but instead expanded the information base and kept it diverse and substantive. All of this is packaged in an exciting action adventure with a smoldering romance that features a girl who knows what she wants and goes for it. A truly smart and terrific read that may make you reflect on how your own actions and choices that define your life. A rarity in the YA world.
