This is a lively, funny book.Funny in a relative sense, as nothing by Graham Greene is without some serious theme. The humour comes from the audacious antics of the 'aunt' of the title. That character, with her unique approach to old age and its challenges is brilliantly portrayed. Her full-tilt life is contrasted with a conventional 'risk-free' life. These of course are stereotypes that the author wishes to explode -- the underlying truth( the serious theme) being that to feel really alive calls for the courage to be oneself.
