The book's subject came across as both a heroic instrument of US policy and its best and as a real person. He was a man who aggressively for terrorists and who enjoyed a bubble bath to relax. He also taught me the value of aspiring to a BIG goal rather than automatically defaulting to the value of a pragmatic, step-by-step progression. Already in his mid-20s, he was a college dropout with a long criminal record and a serious drug problem. Still, his aspiration wasn't a "normal" stable life but to place himself among the elite of the elite as a Navy SEAL.

Eric Blehm
“Modest, conventional expectations weren't enough to lure Adam Brown away from the power of drug addiction that ensnared him. Instead, the college dropout already in his mid-twenties found only the big, near-impossible dream of being a Navy SEAL captivating enough to consistently draw him to different choices.”
