Wow - the journey to the Dark Tower grows deeper and more twisted than I could imagine. I knew starting the Dark Tower series would require an open imagination and I think Dark Tower VI: Song of Susannah pushed my imagination to the limit.

This book was probably one of the shortest of the series - equal in length to that of the first book, The Gunslinger, and felt like a well contained chapter of the series. The story picks up right where Dark Tower V: Wolves of the Calla leaves off and in similar fashion ends with a cliff hanger. I won't give any specifics or spoilers, but I would say that SoS really tested the boundaries of my imagination within the story and mixed in a heavy dose of reality.

King pulled it off very well.

Pros: A smooth mixture of fiction and reality.
Cons: Depth of story with tertiary characters (i.e. the flight stewardess from Book II, the lady that has her shoes stolen by Mai/Susannah from Book VI)
Bottom line: A well contained story within the epic journey to the Dark Tower.
