Getting bullied by friends over your name is really hurtful. This story does helps children to see how much it hurts as it is told from the child named Chrysanthemum. She discovers that a school teacher whom all the children adore has an unusual first name. Once the children learn about this then they begin to treat Chyrsanthemum better. The children are really surprized when the teacher names her baby Chrysanthemum.

Addressing bullying without support is tough. This story will give a child support to tell someone that they are experiencing being bullied.

A learning extension might be read the story to the children and have them tell about a time when they felt sad because of people not accepting them. You might be surprized when other children jump in to lend support.
