Yes, another young adult book. (Listen, when you have a migraine, it's perfect to read something that doesn't tax your brain too much!) I liked the premise: kid with a dad who seems to be the perfect hero, taking down bad guys all over the world on the behalf of the U.S.. Then dad dies in a suspicious plane crash, and the kids starts to have all kinds of odd powers/feelings.
My problem was that the author spent the entire book building this up, with not much information or resolution by the end. I'm not a fan of serial fiction, where the throughline hooks you and you're sucked into buying several books just to see the story through. And I felt the good guy/bad guy dynamic in the book came to an abrupt decision at the end, without enough explanation.
It's too bad, because the book blurb came from William Goldman, author of The Princess Bride, so I thought I knew what I was getting. To each their own...
