This is a graphic novel to go along with the series. It collects issues #1-#5 of the House of Night comic book series from Dark Horse Comics. It takes place between Betrayed, the second novel of the House of Night book series.

I was not familiar with either the comic books or the novels. This was a nice introduction to the House of Night world. It basically tells the stories of 5 famous vampires who help to illustrate the five affinities of the vampires. These stories are presented as lessons for the lead character,Zoey Redbird, to learn how to be a leader. The stories help to add to the world mythos while they also help to introduce new readers to some of those concepts. It gave enough information to be intriguing while not overwhelming. It did make me want to seek out the series, both comics and novels.

With any graphic adaptation, a lot of the enjoyment comes from the artwork. There are multiple artist in the five stories.I felt the artwork ranged from crappy to very pleasing.
