I received a review copy by Ms. Vane in exchange for my honest review.
Ned's daughter Vesta is a spoiled brat. Used to getting her way as the only child of Sir Edward and the late Lady Annalee, Vesta is absolutely livid when her father comes home from London with a new bride with whom he is barely acquainted with. There were times I wanted to take her over My knee and give her a good paddling, but Vesta definitely learns a few lessons thanks to Captain Hew DeVere.
I think what I liked most about this book is how utterly strong Vesta loves Captain Hew from the moment she meets him. That and the fact that Captain Hew isn't at all like most heroes in books...but I won't give away what that secret is so that you can figure it out yourself.
I like the background story of Diana and Vic and can't wait to learn more about them and why she so desperately hates him. You pick up on some things as the book goes on, but they're just teases.
And though there really aren't any sex scenes, the one that is in there leaves you wanting more. This story is purely about a young woman who knows what she wants and isn't afraid to go after it no matter the consequences.
