Nora Blackbird and her sisters learn their great-aunt Madeline died in a volcano explosion in Indonesia. Nora will inherit Quintain, the family estate now that Madcap Maddie is gone. However, when Nora, Libby and Emma arrive with the family lawyers, they discover a body in an elevator. Maddie didn't die in Indonesia; she's been dead for 20 years and the big house has been stripped of all its valuables, including Fabrege eggs and important paintings. Life for the Blackbirds is never easy. Fortunately, Nora's significant other, Michael Abruzzo, is out of jail and under house arrest at the farm because of prison overcrowding, so he can help Nora figure it all out. Michael is trying to go straight and get out of the life of crime his family has been pursuing for a long time so he can marry Nora. So who has been sending postcards from Maddie all these years, if she was dead? What transactions did Maddie record in her little black book that she tells Nora to burn after her death? Who stands to gain the most from Maddie's death? And where did Pippi, Maddie's companion go? Another great adventure for the Blackbird sisters with Nora wearing great fashion. I really enjoy this series!
