The supporting cast (Vi, Ginny, and Dawn) is wonderful and more three-dimensional than our “heroine." At the time I read this (over five years ago), I didn’t find much I liked about the main character. There are moments, however, that I eerily related to her (especially feeling that friendships in New York can seem more superficial than anything else), but then I kept thinking: How can this 38-year-old woman be THIS blind about her love life? Was she really that damaged from her divorce from an awful guy? I just got to a point where I was like, "Really? You're still waiting for this jerkface to call?" I don't know; maybe I just didn't "get" it.
I really wanted to like this book more, but unfortunately it just didn’t work for me on a personal level. It's definitely well-written, but when the character finally finds herself—it's just a little too late for me to fully support her.
