The book gives an insight of what's behind 'casino' walls: how it all works, what games rack in the cash, how gamblers never win. A story of despair and degenerative gambling written by a man.....about men
I will be honest and admit that I cannot fully understand the mechanics of gambling. I cannot even play a winning game of black jack. But I do appreciate Puzo's writing style: the action, the hustling, the degenerate gamblers, the winners. But do I really love the book? not really....it's not for me.
I think the book would be more appreciated by people who gamble...men who want a Hemingway-goes-to-Vegas theme.
