Read from August 01 to 02, 2012 — I own a copy

I had written: "want it bad. the excerpt is gripping".

I can confirm it. The book is gripping, is also dark and gritty with my preferred type of heroine: snarky, strong without being wonderwoman, with a twisted past and a courage bordering on madness :D

I could have done without the attraction in the first part of the book, but kudos because it remained as it was: platonic and in the background, very much so. Given his orders, romance would have been really unbelievably stupid on her part. Great to know we can depict women resisting lust .

I devoured it, but I plan to re-read it. I'm only sorry for the missing words that compelled me to read again a few paragraphs. I understand this is self-pubb, but the author is well known...

Mara Same here, as S Walker I never really liked the books. But I had the same reaction to L Dane. Not much in common with her regular or pnr, but loved her UF.
