A wonderful memoir, beautifully and artistically written by a woman who grew up with a severely schizophrenic mother. Both the author and her mother loved to write, journal, draw and paint. The author's story is interspersed with excerpts from her mothers journals and the author's artwork. In an interview I heard with the author they played up her traumatic brain injury from a car accident in her 40s that caused her to lose her memory and many of her cognitive abilities. Although it is not a large part of this book, it does add another layer to the story. I found it to be very engaging and looked forward to reading it and had trouble putting it down.
