really liked it
bookshelves: fiction

I picked up this book a few years ago in a book trade in a small town in NC. I was intrigued by the setting and the following of three generations of Swedish women. Since I know very little about Swedish history and geography, I learned a lot from the novel and the descriptions of the physical setting. The depth of the characters and their relationships with one another and how these relationships affect the generations after was amazing. It seemed so real I often forgot I was reading a novel and not a true story. I thought this was an easy to read novel, but very complex, if that makes any sense. Overall, a good book.
