This period piece is a laugh-riot to read. My have things changed since my grandmother got it when she married in 1927!

Jennifer D what a cool book to have, susanna!! i bet it was highly *snort*-inducing!

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads I found my mother in the kitchen, reading it and howling with laughter. So I've just started it.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads I am reliably informed, in the first chapter, that one can still have "dainty" meals despite having a servantless kitchen.

Bettie☯ Looks a hoot in the betweenthewar style of a Mrs Beeton victorian.

Linda Taylor I, too, have laughed until snorting while reading this book. It's not the recipes...it's the interstitials explaining, for example, how at breakfast the homemaker should have a "serene" manner to set the tone for the day.
