Arelia lives in New Orleans surrounded by Voodoo and she is looking for a job to help her grand-mere pay the rent and save some funds to go to college. Sabrina is her best friend and convinces her to work at the wealthy plantation offering food, tours and generally assistance to the guests staying at the Darkwood Plantation. There she finds out a secret that she has powers of the voodoo queen and Lucus the mysterious handsome plantation owner needs her help to break a curse on his family. Add some seriously scary ghosts or spirits into the mix, powers of healing and going back to the past to find the answers, Arelia has gotten a lot more than she bargained for with her new Summer Job. It was an entertaining read, light hearted and plenty of romance which is nice. A few writing mistakes but that did not detract from the story and I was interested enough to buy the next book.
