Maybe, just maybe, things might be good for a while in Chess' life. Her job is challenging, she has a new girl friend to hang out with, and her relationship with Terrible is still strong. Yet some strange drugs hitting the street mean bad news. There's ghost magic in them and Bump wants Chess to figure out what's going on. It's bigger than she can ever imagine. She might likely die this time around, but what has her even more frightened is that Terrible might too. A few more Cepts might help calm her nerves, but she's going to need a lot more to survive this battle.

Stacia Kane has never disappointed me with the Downside Ghosts series. I love the mystery of the spelled drugs and the effect it had on users. It was dark, horrific, and original. The story spiraled into the dark depths of drugs, relationships, dark magic, and the dead. Chess and Terrible are intense. My favorite anti-heroes. I am hopelessly addicted to this series.
