This book tell the story of Charlie who is seeking help from Clay to overcome her phobia with men as a result from being raped during her high school. Charlie is incapable to have relationship with men because of the raping episode. Yet she knew she have to overcome this phobia first before she can have children. The opportunity presented itself when she met Clay and when Clay agreed to be her mentor, she never thought that it can developed into something deeper.
When i read the earlier book, i was hoping that there will be a book about Charlie as i find her character very interesting. She is a very strong women on the outside but as you read, she is very vulnerable at heart. I like her and the way she tackled the problem that she is facing albeit in the weird kind of way. Clay on the other hand,
is a caring person. He truly wanted to help her and what started off as a way of helping her has turned into an attraction. And as he has lost his wife in an accident before, he decided that he wont be able to risk his sanity for the second time and decided to leave Charlie. I really felt for Charlie especially when she tried to be strong when Clay dumped her.
Overall, i really enjoyed reading this book in the latest Fool Gold's series.
