I enjoyed The Batboy more than I expected for two reasons: it was about a batboy for the Detroit Tigers and when I was younger one of my dreams was to be a batgirl for the Tigers. My brother and I even entered a couple of contests to be honorary batboys/girls, but alas we never won. In this story, Brian Dudley gets a gig as batboy and his summer only gets better when his idol, Hank Bishop, returns to the team after being suspended for steroid use. It's a pretty typical sports story with the ubiquitous 11th hour heroic athletic feats. It's pretty heavy on the baseball action which should appeal to baseball fans. Fortunately, I understand baseball so these scenes didn't bore me as much as football or soccer scenes would have.
