really liked it
bookshelves: fantasy
Read in October, 2008

Wow, this was an insanely painful book to read. Jilly, the center of the magical happenings in Newford, is hit by a car and crippled. In attempting to heal, she starts to deal with her horrific childhood, her relationships with the people around her, and the sister who adored her, who she left behind in her abusive family and who may have been the one to try to kill her.

Um, there's not a whole lot I can say without getting very personal. Let's just say I found it painful, compelling, inspiring, and discouraging, and immediately went out and bought the sequel.

Cera I can't decide if your review makes me want to read it or run very fast in the other direction -- okay, probably both -- but either way it's certainly compelling!
