You know that feeling when you're reading this amazing heart-twisting book and then suddenly BAM! you're hit with such an anticlimactic resolution that it leaves you going:

This book was that.

I've read Sherry Thomas's other novels so I know that when I pick up a book of hers it going to be heart-wrenching and end sooner than I'd like. I especially like the way Sherry Thomas does 'pining for love'. Sherry Thomas doesn't write your typical light historical romance. Her stories are very character driven and the characters themselves are often very intense, which is good if that's the type of romance you were looking for (which I was, in this case).

Millie and Fitz-- I love the dynamic between them. Sometimes, it's satisfying to read about a steady friendship that has grown into love over the years rather than a whirlwind courtship. But seriously, (view spoiler) That's what downgraded my rating of a supposed 4 or 5-star book.
