I really enjoyed both the setting and the basic subject matter regarding Templar treasure, but I had higher expectations about the quality of the writing.

It may sound kind of silly, but based on the format of the book (trade fiction style), I was expecting something a bit more literary. In reality, it's more of a mass market paperback. Once I reset my expectations, I was still able to enjoy the book.

For me, the lower rating is due to:
- ease in which the characters move from clue to clue
- the 'chance' events that lead them to clues, such as falling through a floor, or a wall

I agree with comparisons to Dan Brown, but definitely don't feel that this is comparable in quality to "The Name of the Rose" by Umberto Eco.
