Basically in this book, you meet this slave family. They work for a pretty fair white man, he feeds his slaves, gives them decent shelter and aids them if their hurt. But then he gets himself into gambling trouble and is forced to sell all of his slaves. The slave family is split up. most are sold to bad plantations far down south. The book takes you through the up's and down's through the lives of the slaves, and how some fled to free land. Ocverall it's a good book.
