My immersion into the Victorian Age continues...

Not bad, not stellar. Written like a committee of Susanna Clarke, Neil Gaiman, and Bruce Sterling had accepted a commission to churn out a steam punk novel with references ranging from Mary Shelley to A.C. Doyle and many points in between. Yeah, its a pastiche and as you would expect the ending doesn't come together very (Stephenson would handled that part obviously) but the ride was fun. I'll definitely check out whatever Barnes writes next.
