I just read this book in one sitting, and it made me both laugh and cry. Not being into supernatural phenomenon whatsoever, I felt hesitant to read the book. But (thankfully), the book is less about ghosts than it is about love, friendship, life, loss, mental instability, search for "truth," and, ultimately, the acceptance of all the unknowns of life lest they drive a person insane. If I had a shelf for "favorite memoirs," Giving Up the Ghost would fit snugly on that shelf.
