There is absolutely nothing I can say about Wodehouse that hasn't been said already by nearly everyone else in the world. Including intellectual giants like Stephen Fry.

I will say that although some may find the blackface and use of the word 'nigger' to be blatantly offensive, I can only say that it doesn't read like an old Amos n Andy sketch, and doesn't come off as denigrating in the way that the crows in Dumbo do. In fact, I'd be inclined to say that there was far more to his use of the word 'nigger' when certain characters spoke, and the use of the word 'negro' in reference to those same minstrels. But it really is too late to ask Wodehouse himself, as he is currently d. And as for old Bertie being in blackface, well, it was hilarious. It could have been anything, really, and it would have been equally hilarious. Remember when you're judging this volume on a basis of racial prejudice that Wodehouse is a first-class satirist.
