This book I picked up on a whim, because, you know, it's Harry Potter!! Surprisingly, it is a very interesting cookbook!! This is one of those cookbooks that you can read from cover to cover, because each recipe includes a short paragraph of the history of cooking! Like: why does Mulligatawny Soup have such a crazy name? What is a "rasher" of Bacon? What is Pease Porridge? How did ketchup come about? What are "bangers" and why are they called that?
So much fun. Most of the recipes are from Great Britain, modified for Americans. I only gave it 4 stars because it is lacking the one recipe I really wanted: Butterbeer. I mean, come on, it's Harry Potter! Where's the Butterbeer???
