The first book in the Black Cat Bookshelf Mystery series introduces us to Darla Pettistone the owner of her great aunt Dee's bookstore in Brooklyn & her cat Hamlet. In the debut when the author of a a series of books called Haunted High comes up dead at a book signing in front of her fans a unique mystery ensues. Brandon's characters are believable & the religious anti-vampire church side of things provide for a complex plot that keeps you guessing from time-to-time. Hamlet himself plays a very small but important role in things. You also have enough emotion to keep you invested in the plot as well up until the very end. Overall a nice debut for this series.
