Maybe I'm chintzy with the stars because I'm not a fan of "love" stories. This one was good, with great descriptions of settings (New York, Italy, Buenos Ares), of shoe-making (!), of decor, family dynamics and food. There was humor and familial love and appreciation, but the love story was just so-so. I'm glad there weren't any explicit love/sex scenes - it wouldn't have fit well in this story. This is a good beach read.
