Dinosaurs on the Roof

I liked somethings about this book. The dialouge seemed strange, kind of flat, but some of the narrative in between was wonderful. Even with that, not sure I would really recommend this book to anyone else, it disappointed me in the end, because I wanted more resolution for the characters.
The story takes place in the NE corner of Iowa, and the two main characters are a woman aged 71 whose church members are expecting to be "TAKEN UP" by God--their minister has named the day and time; and a younger woman who has left her teaching career, and seems to spend most of her time drunk or high on "ludes". The older lady asked the younger to feed her pets when she is taken to heaven. The book is a almost 500 pages long, but all happens in a couple of days.
