Lively retellings of old stories from around the world (but mostly from ancient Greece). Horowitz doesn't flesh out the stories a great deal, but he does add witty lines, such as:

- "Thor and Loki stood sheepishly while the goddess of love glared at them with remarkably little love in her eyes."

- "Hypaepae didn't have a village green. It had a village moldy brown."
