This book started off well, but then gets bogged down in too much of the technical aspects of baking. Sure, its good to round out the storyline with a little bit of this kind of deails, but not that much. Once the action started going it was better. Kauffman is good at portraying the anguish that Lani & Baxter feel at having so little time together & then having to part. That's where she excels. But the bedroom scenes rang kind of hollow. Scenes with Lani's friends like Charlotte, Alva, & Dre were humourous & felt real. As did the interaction between Lani & her dad. Everything else could've been better written.
