really liked it
bookshelves: fiction
Recommended for: lovers and dreamers
Read in October, 2006

I read Gatsby first in high school and I decided to reread it last fall. It was tragic, poetic, and elegiac. The plot is decent enough, but mostly it's inconsequential. I loved it for the old love and impossible dreams and the way everything Fitzgerald writes at the end of a chapter lifts up off the ground and floats away.

So. If you're a big game hunter, then it may not be for you. But Hemingway was a big game hunter, so you never know.
