Memnoch the Devil (The Vampire Chronicles, Book 5) by Anne Rice
Ugh, what the hell happened to Anne Rice? Her books were dark, intelligent, passionate, and enjoyable. Suddenly with this novel in the vampire series, she turns all Jesus on us and from this point forward her writing becomes nothing more but constant, ongoing Christian rhetoric. I felt like she personally was standing on a soapbox blabbing on and on. It is with this book that she really lost me forever (though I made a couple more feeble attempts).
