This is classic James. Hot couple, hot chemistry, hot cowboys. This is a good series and I haven't read them for a while so it suffers a bit from too many secondary characters showing up. I don't think it could be a standalone or if you did try it you may get the feeling that you've been dropped into the middle of story and feel a bit lost. I've read them all and I feel like it's almost to the point where I need a cheat sheet to keep characters and storylines straight.

I like the MacKays. I like some of them more than others though. Fifteen books may be a bit daunting to get the backstory you need but they're worth the read. James has created a nicely authentic western family and town here. So if you like your cowboys and your rodeo these are the books for you.
